Former world No. 1 tennis player Maria Sharapova has a penchant for eating sweets after practice. However, “Russian Doll” still has methods to maintain her admirable figure.

Maria Sharapova is a legendary Russian tennis player. She owns 5 prestigious Grand Slam titles, winning a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. “Russian Doll” held the world No. 1 position on the WTA rankings when she was only 21 years old. Not only famous for her talent, Sharapova’s beauty is also mentioned as a monument in the tennis world.

What’s interesting is that even though she became a professional athlete, Sharapova still maintains her love for sweets. She once shared that when she was a child, her father often rewarded Sharapova with lollipops or chocolate after long days of practice. That motivated her to work harder. So Sharapova chose not to give them up completely, but to eat them in moderation.

The former world number 1 tennis player often starts his day by drinking half a liter of water or lemonade. This habit, although small, helps Sharapova feel healthier.

Sharing with Self Magazine, the Russian beauty revealed that carbs are very important in her diet to provide the necessary energy every time she competes. “It’s important to have the right balance between carbs and protein,” Sharapova says.

During tours, “Russian Doll” maintains a disciplined lifestyle with a clean diet of lean protein and green vegetables, drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep.

Sharapova’s typical menu, according to Harpers Bazaar .

Morning: Toasted black bread, goat cheese, a piece of ham and fruit

Lunch: Tomato soup, vegetables and chicken breast

Snack: Green vegetable juice

Dinner: Fish, rice and vegetables

On her personal Instagram, Sharapova once revealed that she eats avocado after training. This fruit is rich in good fats to replenish energy.

Sharapova trains intensely 5-6 times a week with a personal trainer. “Playing professional tennis requires a lot of effort. If you rest for more than 3 days, you will start to lose muscle,” the former world number 1 shared with Harpers Bazaar.

A standard Russian doll workout session will start with stretching and a warm-up jog on the beach. Next, she spent 2 hours practicing tennis. Finally, there are exercises for the entire middle part of the body (abdomen, hips, back), pilates and combining interval training with a bicycle or on hills and sand dunes.

In addition, the fitness coach will have Sharapova do high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and weight training twice a week.

“Russian Doll” combines practicing many subjects at the same time. She shares many photos of herself practicing yoga on her personal Instagram. Sharapova also participates in salsa dancing classes, boxing to increase concentration, and meditates every day.

Besides diligently exercising, Sharapova is also interested in restoring her body’s energy. “Sports massages and weekly ice or hot water baths, help relieve my tired muscles. I also use Espom salt and lavender essential oil,” she emphasized.
