The 1975 are set to headline Reading and Leeds Festival, just weeks after frontman Matty Healy and Taylor Swift reportedly struck up a romance – before later splitting.
Matty and Taylor were spotted together on several occasions following her split from British actor Joe Alwyn. But while Taylor famously sings about her break-ups, Matty doesn’t usually follow that route. As the rock group take to the stages at the weekend event alongside the likes of Sam Fender, The Killers, Billie Eilish Foals, Only The Poets and You Me At Six at Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds, we look at Matty’s colourful love life.
Matty’s last famous relationship came to an end last year, following a whirlwind romance with British musician FKA Twigs. Rumours the two stars were dating began to circulate way back in 2020, with the former couple making it Instagram official just weeks before the world went into lockdown.
But sadly it wasn’t meant to be and the pair called it quits last summer thanks to the age-old classic ‘work commitments’. “Sadly things haven’t worked out. Those around them thought this was going to be it but it hasn’t been the case,” a source said at the time.
“There was no mᴀssive row or fallout. When lockdown ended they both found themselves pulled in different directions with work commitments. The whole thing is still very raw and naturally, she is upset but she’s got her friends around her who are supporting her.”
Many fans of The 1975 believe the band’s hit song I’m In Love With You was inspired by frontman Matty’s relationship with FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett.
